Understanding Christianity - The Creation
The first three days of the Spring Term saw us have a whole school focus on the Creation. We began with a whole school assembly talking about the Creation as told in the book of Genesis and watching an animation.
Safari Stu came in to introduce us to our wonderful world of nature with some exotic creatures from snakes to skunks! We used artwork, lego, music and dance, poetry and Venus looked at our human responsibility to look after our world and produced a video appeal to elephant poachers. (have a look at Venus class blog on their page)
Here are just a few examples of the amazing work that was done in just three days!
Celebrating Diversity Week
Towards the end of the Spring Term we celebrated what makes each of us unique. The children talked about their similarities and differences. We launched our week on Monday learning how to say ‘Good Morning Everybody’ in sign language and listening to the story of Elmer. As a school we agreed, we are all different and that it is okay to be different and that everybody should be themselves. We have engaged in lots of different activities across the week including:
- Learning sign language
- Singing songs
- A visit to a synagogue for Years 3 & 4
- Learning about life through the eyes of different children
- Wearing whacky odd socks on World Down Syndrome Day
- Talking about similarities and difference
- Science experiments linked to our senses
- An amazing assembly by Jupiter Class for parents and the school
- And much, much more!
